Micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) is an advanced and non-destructive imaging method that visualie the internal structure of objects in a three-dimensional manner similar to clinical CT scanning, but on a smaller scale and with very high resolution. According to a study published on Thursday, June 29, 2023 in PLOS Computational Biology, Ohio State University, researchers have created a three-dimensional computer model based on micro-CT scans of a cat's head and identification of tissue types throughout the nasal cavity and simulated how an inhalation of air containing common cat food odors would flow through the coiled structures.
